Material cleaning tips: after the doors and tops, it’s now time for the sink

Colores y materiales

Find out what our practical and quick advice is for a kitchen that’s always in tip-top condition.

The sink is one of the most frequently used components of any kitchen and stains, oxidation and dulling can occur with time. Constant care should therefore not be underestimated and with the help of our useful tips, you should be able to treat all sorts of stains, keeping your sink materials impeccable.

Following our advice on cleaning the doors and tops, here's a set of tips on how to clean your kitchen and make sure the sink stays in tip-top condition as new.

Stainless steel sink

In everyday life, the surfaces should be treated with soap and water or with neutral detergents. It is advisable to rub them with a synthetic sponge in a movement that always mirrors the direction of the satin finish; after rinsing, gently wipe them dry with a soft cloth. A microfibre cloth and “Clin&Clin” disposable wipes (available from any Scavolini dealer) are also suitable to keep these surfaces clean.

For water stains, use only specific stainless steel cleaning products, according to the instructions on the label. In the case of limescale or fatty substances, there are two solutions: use either warm white vinegar or methylated spirit. Both should be used with a soft, delicate cloth.

In case of dullness, use specific cleaners, which can usually be easily found in the household cleaning product aisle.

In general, try not to leave sponges soaked in detergent or open packs and bottles of chemicals inside or near the sink.
These small precautions should avoid any form of oxidation or corrosion!

Fragranite, synthetic Granit, Dura Quarz and Meta Quarz sink

Hygienic and easy to clean, thanks to their compact and smooth surface, these materials require normal maintenance. Indeed, just use warm water and light detergents with soft cloths for daily cleaning, or kitchen detergents in the event of stains. Alcohol or diluted bleach is required for more stubborn stains. Limescale also requires specific scale-removing products.

Dura Last resin sink

Dura Last resin rarely has stains that are difficult to remove, unless food remains in contact with the surface for a prolonged period of time. If this is the case, you may need more “powerful” cleaning products, but never use abrasive ones! For normal, regular cleaning, simply use a soft cloth dampened with soap and water, and subsequently dry the sink thoroughly. If the stains continue to be particularly stubborn, chlorine-based or dishwasher detergents may come in handy.

Use white vinegar for limescale...and if the traces become more evident, prepare a solution of hot water and dishwasher detergent and rinse thoroughly after a few hours.

Being aware of the tricks of the kitchen cleaning trade is essential; a clean and tidy setting is favourable to preparing exquisite dishes!
